RULES
PROLIXIA can be played Solo for 50 moves or Online by up to eight players. The Online game can also be adjusted for the amount of time allowed for each players move. The limiting factor being that more players/time means more waiting between turns. Therefore ideally the
game is best appreciated with less than four players, & with a short period allowed for each move.
OBJECTIVE
The aim when playing 'SOLO' is for the player to score as highly as possible and beat their previous score,or someone else's! The FREE game is only played for 25 questions but the bought game is set for 50 moves & hundreds more questions become available.
The Online 'Challenge' game can be set to individual preferences.
When playing 'CHALLENGE' the aim is for each player is to gain more points than their opponents by inserting higher scoring letters, in crossword fashion, onto the playing area (from now on called the ‘board’
It is not necessary to insert long complicated words, as more points can be gained by building on existing smaller words.
(see tactics/building words on previous page)
A player gains a letter by answering an appropriate question:- the more useful the letter, the harder the question.
Letters only count after they have been laid in a legitimate word on the
Board.
Only in the very rare occurrence of a tie, at the end of the game, do letters held in the Bank count.
ALLOWABLE WORDS
Legitimate words are those found in any reputable dictionary.
No foreign words are allowed unless accepted as a new addition to the English Language and found in the chosen dictionary.
For example - Crouton or Kindergarten
Plurals, by simply adding an ‘S’ are NOT allowed,

The 'SOLO' Game
Everybody playing PROLIXIA for the first time needs to play 'SOLO' in order to learn the Game before competing against an opponent.
The objective of ‘SOLO’ is to form as many interconnecting words as is possible in 50 questions.
(The FREE game is only 25 questions !)
All other Prolixia rules apply.
This is a great way to Practice, Learn or simply pass the time.
To make it really competitive, keep a tally of all your previous scores and attempt to beat your record (or someone else’s) each time you play.
The 'CHALLENGE' Game
A coin is spun, or dice rolled, or paper/scissors/stone or any other method used to decide who goes first.
Playing time is adjustable to allow less experienced players more time to navigate the game, but a Championship game is normally set at 50 moves each with 30 seconds allowed to conclude business.
That means ALL business: ie. to select a letter, answer the appropriate question and place on the board any legitimate letters.
If timed out, play moves on (to the left), but all moves that a player has made within the allocated time are still counted.
The Game finishes when the previously agreed limit has been reached, (this could be:-1 hour, 2 hours, etc.) OR the specified number of Questions have been asked (eg. 50 each, 75 each, etc) OR the agreed final score has been achieved. (eg. 301, 501, etc.)
